Rodeo of Fallen Stars - Swank

RODEO OF FALLEN STARS - SWANK

Once, on Hastings I saw an old rhinestone cowboy wearing white ultra- flaired pants with red sequined stars going up the leg, and carrying a suitcase. It was not Halloween, it was daytime, and I was not dreaming. At the same time , as I was stopped at a red light, a local musician, also carrying a suitcase, entered the crosswalk and directly in front of my car had his suitcase come unlatched spilling its entire contents, which happened to be all sheet music. He started to kick his suitcase like a mad-man instead of trying to pick anything up, while the papers scattered in the wind. Only on Hastings.

RODEO OF FALLEN STARS

Down on Hastings, I pawned your wedding ring
I stole a stereo and bought it back again
Your my lovin' wife, but I also got a friend
Now down costs money, so listen honey, I'll need that ring again

Queen of desperation where misery is king
Misery loves company so why don't you join in
We'll drink some wine, maybe smoke some heroin
gettin' down on East Hastings

Down on Hastings you'll find us at the bar
Sometimes at the Sunrise, Sometimes the Old Lonestar
Time's still wasting, but baby here we are
At the cowboy junky dreamer's rodeo of fallen stars

Today is Wednesday, got my baby out on bail
Took every dime that I could find from homes in Kerrisdale
My tattooed tiara, bought you a corsage and some smokes
Maybe we can trade CD's for a couple lines of coke

Tonight we're getting tight at the Fiesta del la Dole
Its a cross between Mardi Gras and the Parade of the Lost Souls
When Thursday rolls around we'll crawl back in our holes
and we'll pray for another way to put crack back in our bowls

Down on Hastings you'll find us at the bar
Sometimes at the Sunrise, Sometimes the Old Lonestar
Time's still wasting, but baby here we are
At the cowboy junky dreamer's rodeo of fallen stars

We'll I've seen a lot of good clothes wearing out from good to thin
A lot of dreams, a lot of schemes, and needles goin' in
Desperate times and desperate crimes and crack and aids and gin
Down on East Hastings

Down on Hastings you'll find us at the bar
Sometimes at the Sunrise, Sometimes the Old Lonestar
Time's still wasting, but baby here we are
At the cowboy junky dreamer's rodeo of fallen stars
