Bringing the Message of a Drug-Free Lifestyle to Schools and Community Centres

An important component of the Odd Squad operation is the offering of audio visual presentations to junior and high school students. Over the past many years, OSP has sent squad members from our team to schools, libraries, seminars, conferences and other educational institutions across North America offering education about drug prevention. Odd Squad’s presentations are tailored to the specific needs of each audience and their respective community, and range in length from 60 to 90 minutes. Still photos, video, and personal narratives are used to enhance the presentations delivered by police officers who are all members of the Odd Squad team. Since our inception in 1997, OSP has received hundreds of positive testimonials on the effectiveness of the presentations.

The following topics are covered during the presentations: an overview of the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver, the types of drugs being used and their effects, the connection between criminal behaviour and drug abuse, as well as mental health issues and safety strategies.  Odd Squad delivers over 30 presentations a year to audiences of all ages across the nation.
