Bio

Dr. Kim Polowek is a Criminologist and Associate Professor with the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of the Fraser Valley. She has a diverse background as a criminal justice practitioner in the fields of probation, youth, social work, research, interest arbitration, policing, and mental health.

She possesses extensive experience in the Administrative Tribunal arena having served as a member of various federal and provincial Boards and Tribunals (e.g. Parole Board of Canada for 13 years, BC Review Board (not criminally responsible due to mental disorder for 11 years) and Immigration and Refugee Board. Her current volunteer and research activities are in the areas of substance abuse and criminality prevention, romance scam fraud, ethics, risk assessment, cyber crime, and victimology.
