Who is Josh Eppard?
Josh is the drummer and one of the founding members of the rock band, Coheed and Cambria. The band has produced 10 studio albums over the past two decades, and toured the globe playing sold-out shows to the delight of their fans. If all you know about Josh is his success, then you don’t know the whole story.
Despite being exposed to anti-drug messages growing up, as a young man Josh found himself caught in the grips of an addiction to heroin and oxycontin. This addiction cost him nearly everything. In a short span of time, he went from a successful, rising young rock star, to a homeless addict who had run out of money, friends and hope.
The real story of Josh Eppard is the journey to get himself clean, kick his drug habit and return to the band. This is what you will hear from Josh. It’s a story of redemption, hard work and hard choices, that led to ultimately saving his life. It’s a story that has lessons and insights for us all.
What will you hear from Josh?
Josh talks to young people in a way that few others do. He doesn’t whitewash the truth. He also doesn’t dramatize it in any way. He tells it like it is. He wants young people to truly understand both the process and costs of addiction.
Josh’s approach is not about being scared straight, but rather being straight about the realities. If he was armed with the information that he has now about addiction, he might never have given in to the temptation of drugs. This is the message for his audience. His goal is to leave young people with perspective and tools to avoid drugs and addiction altogether.
