BC Bud
Through the assistance of aggressive educational and prevention campaigns, the popularity of cigarettes has dropped dramatically over the past several decades. Concurrently, however, the consumption of marijuana, especially in BC, has increased dramatically.
While the public debate on legalization vs. prohibition continues, Odd Squad is moving ahead to develop an educational documentary on the current popularity of marijuana, the health effects on youth, and the crime associated with the marijuana drug trade. From grow-ops to cross-border marijuana smuggling, the illegal drug trade around ‘BC Bud’ has enormous implications not only for law enforcement and the public, but also for those individuals who get caught up in the lucrative draw of this burgeoning industry. Individuals who become involved in the illicit drug trade and who have paid the ultimate price will be interviewed for this video with compelling and frank discussions on the personal costs/consequences of their poor decisions.
A panel of prevention experts will guide this production. Medical experts will also be canvassed for the most recent scientific information on the consumption/addiction issues related to marijuana.
This documentary will be aimed at high-school youth. Sgt. Toby Hinton (VPD) and Sgt. Tim Shields (RCMP) are producing this video. Filming is currently underway.
