It is Better to Prevent than Heal with Police Judo
POLICE JUDO
Police Judo is designed to help develop physical literacy, coordination, fitness and resilience through judo. The program provides participants with opportunities to progress from beginner through black belt while developing skills that support lifelong physical activity, confidence and personal growth.
Students learn the philosophy and principles of judo, including the most important principle of Police Judo: “take care of one’s partner.” There is no punching, striking or kicking. Training focuses on judo techniques including throws, grappling and groundwork, along with physical literacy and practical self-defence skills.
Training takes place on the custom-built sprung training floor at Odd Squad Productions Society in Burnaby.
Odd Squad’s Physical Literacy Pathway uses the philosophy of judo to help develop perseverance, respect, resilience, confidence and responsibility through physical activity.
